    Turning down / re-profiling a barrel

I understand that doing this can theoretically change bore dimensions etc, interested in real world experiance on the matter.

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

If the barrel is cut-rifled, there shouldn't be a problem. If you take a button-rifled barrel right down in size, then it's a definite possibility that the residual stress will be released, increasing the bore dimensions esp at the muzzle end.

No2 profile is pretty skinny already - personally I would not shave anything off that puppy, if u r after weight savings I'd focus on the stock, get a STUG cf and drop a pound or two.

Yeah, I'm probably after tinkering for the sake of it. I have made a cavity in the buttstock and routed some out of the forend so the stock weighs 800gr now. Might shorten barrel to 19 or 20 inches to bring back balance and call it good.
