Thread: Under $500 vari power

Looking at an under $500 vari power scope for 7.62 x 39 mini set up, to do predominantly sub 150m shooting, often lots less. Konus, Vortex, Athlon, Niko. Opinions from the wise ?????
And I know the saying spend as much on the glass as possible but I think manufacturing has helped improve the option?

I looked at a Element scope that might suit, cant remember the model but it was a 4-12x40 with a simple holdover reticle, think it was about $450. Might be more scope than you need but they seem to have good reviews. Just had a look and they make a 3-9x40 for $399

For nikko in a suitable size I can do well under your budget for never used ones still in the box. 3.5-10, 3-9, or similar. Some of the Nikko nighteaters were iin that range and are very good scopes for their price. I use those on a couple of rifles myself and even grabbed a spare in case I damage one. A 3-9x40 Gold crown unused would be about $200.
