Any advice please.
I have a viper pst 2.5-10x44 on my zastava m85 223 and am thinking of upgrading.
But not sure where to head.Thinking of a bushnell 6500 or nikon monark.
What do you Fellas think??

If you can get a VX6 into your budget, the 3-18x44 is worth consideration in my humble opinion.
Im going the other way seriously considering taking a big bulky Weaver grandslam off my 223 (m85 like yours) and fitting a strike eagle 1-6. Plenty enough magnification for what I want, a bdc reticle designed for the 223. Guess it depends on what you do. Mine is no1 pest control gun. More magnification doesn't make you shoot better only see better
I'm thinking I might be interested in your Viper PST if you do replace it....
Vx6/Swaro
Why do you want to upgrade? Whats wrong with the PST? If its a long range small game rig you might need more magnification?
What mag range are you looking at? As the scopes you have there aren't an upgrade, maybe even a step down. If you want more mag I'd stick with a different model PST
Too right ^.
If you want more magnification get the 4-16x50 pst
I had a giant size Mueller 8.5-24x50 and could shoot nice tight groups with it but it looked stupid on such a small light rifle. Was head shooting Wallabies at 150+m under a maxtoch.Put the vortex on and my groups opened up to 1-1.5 inches.I have not hunted with the vortex yet so might be judging too early.Just my confidence took a hit. Will try for some Hares this weekend.
Sounds to me like its a magnification issue. You could aim smaller with a scope that zoomed in better so you could see the cross you were aiming at if that makes sense.
Or a mounting issue
If you don't want the vortex then go for a Sightron for more power. Hard to beat bang for buck wise and they dial really nicely. They also have excellent glass.
The Nikon Monarch sure has nice glass but it's not a step up really more sideways as they are not really a dialling scope... They do offer a prostaff 7 that is 30mm tube and dials but I have not tried it or the new monarch dialling system.
I had a 6-24*50 monarch that was super nice glass and the BDC was pretty solid out to 450 y.
The Mueller had very fine cross hairs so tight groups were easy. The viper not so fine.
Liked the Mueller,just too big.
Have tried two different sets of rings with the viper.Same result.Probably just need to practice with the viper.
Theres a 6x24 PST in the for sale section for a grand
Interestingly, I compared a Viper HS LR 4-16x44 side-by-side with a Viper PST 4-16x44, and all three of us present agreed that the HS was significantly better optically than the PST.
For those looking at a PST, unless you really want the illum or FFP, try checking out the HS-T instead.
HS-T only has half MOA adjustments as opposed to quarter in PST
My Choice is going to be Sightron S-tac (same as sIII glass) 2.5-18 for my next one in mil/mil at around $1600 and illum it seems to deliver all I want in one... apart from I'm gonna have to keep saving for a while yet....
Nice review against some other euro glass too if you can be bothered https://youtu.be/xCmNI5OeQCE
Nice 80MOA of dialup vertically and 40 horizontally and focus down to 10 yards which I thought useful for NZ conditions.
pretty sure the HS-T has the Wire Ret compared to the etched glass of the PST.
I agree.. that Stac looks nice. Good reviews regarding optical quality too but for the money I would still go SIII unless you need illumination.
SIII is made in Japan v the S-Tac made in Philippines?
Sold the viper and some other scopes I wasn't using and bought a docter optic,am happy now.
I liked the viper but wanted some more mag.
Hey @Gibo, Strikernz is right, I have 2x HS-T and a PST, and I can assure you that in the Viper HS, HS-T and PST they are all 1/4" adjustments(MOA SCOPES OF COURSE) and the HS-LR has 1/2" in the elevation and 1/4" in the windage.
Hope this helps.
