    USA Advice needed

Any body know if this will be ok and work out.

I'm off to Las Vegas and New York in september. Las Vegas 1st. And was thinking about buying from las vegas and sending home some 30&20 round ar15 mags and selling them for a reasonable price to basically pay for my mags (5 i would like, only got 1 now) and make a bit of cash to fill those mags up. Probably 10 mags (or less, depends on what advice i get from you guys) there only 20usd. And would sell them cheaper than spear mags of course. (How are there mags by the way??)

Things I think I all ready know:

I'm gna need an import permit from my AO.

The USA will let you ship certain firearm parts out of the country if there value is less than 100usd. (No export permit)

Defiantly don't take them to New York with me.

    Things I need answers for:

Do I need some kind of USA export permit for hi cap mags.

Can a tourist even send firearm parts back.

Will the AO & police even let you import 10 hi cap mags.

Any advice and banter on this topic is much appreciated guys.

    Thanks.

Legally, I believe you have to be a registered exporter of firearm parts to send firearm parts out of the USA, legally. I have heard of guys buying up large while over there, and US customs not giving a shit on the way out. You are better off getting an import permit for the mags here and just buying them off Brownells, in my opinion.

That is for non regulated parts. High Cap magazines are ITAR regulated. you will need an export permit , a DSP 83 form and a end user certificate.
I have done it for some parts with no problem, never tried for magazines tho.

I'm off to the states in August Burb122, LA, Las Vegas, Hawaii

And have done some similar investigations.

What I have found out is if you get it wrong you could end up as Bubba's Bitches Bitch for a very long time.

It's frustrating trying to work out the Federal, State and Local Laws, but it can be done and maybe worth the effort.

Some of the firearms and parts I'm interested in are less than half NZ prices.

You may also need to ship your parts through a FFL holder in the states. this usually costs $250US.

    Good Luck

    Cheers
    Pete

My brother regularly travels monthly there to work.

FWIW he usually brings all my brass and projectiles. ALWAYS declares it all the way thru the USA Checkin / Customs etc.

Now many of my mates have done what you are suggesting but my bro tells me they now take the shippers details and while you may well have left the USA by the time they ( your stuff) leaves too. You may find it you go back there the authorities may give you grief. You may indeed become "bubbas bitch" unexpectedly on your return to the USA as US authorities have their commonsense and sense of humor removed at birth in my own personal experience and they have a fetish with what side of the line you must be on too

NZ made AR mags are available here at more reasonable prices now ............. and if you have to have some US ones Brownells will supply and do all the paperwork for you. HOWEVER getting a NZ Import Permit for 10 or more 30 round mags is the most difficult part.
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.
