Imo the best thing to do with an AR is assemble one yourself with good parts to meet your own requirements, it's cheaper than an assembled rifle and any good off the shelf parts work fine, it's like lego to assemble, most factory ARs don't have the ideal combo of features imo. Lightweight barrels, slim tube hand guards, good triggers, adjustable gas blocks etc don't come in factory rifles and it's dumb to buy a factory rifle and then lose money replacing unsatisfactory parts.


Spikes, Stag, CMMG, etc are all much the same thing

Hmm l get where you are coming from but we don't have a store where you can get all the bits. You have to source them here there and even the USA which of course costs you in freight. There is no easy answer to it all best is a second ha do one who has already done the hard work a they are selling to upgrade.

nzar15.com has most bits, not as cheap as importing but so much less hassle. Just always out of stock of what I want!! (13 inch kmr, and that noveske barrel, Ken..)

If you are mechanically minded its pretty simple with a few basic tools. I would recommend a set of punches, allen keys, upper receiver vice block and armorers wrench. All of these can be purchased on TM and are worth having if you are an AR owner anyway. The cheapest armorers wrench you can find will do the trick. Often rails come with their own barrel nut spanner and all you need is a 1/2" torque wrench.

We occasionally offer to build kits customers buy off us at no charge if they are present in store - and we have time. Theres not a lot that can wrong if you do it yourself though.

KMR's definitely in next shipment. Noveske hopefully something will come available soon.

The worst damage you can do building your own AR is over torque the barrel nut and crack the upper, if you're a fucking gorilla, or mar the anodising on your upper/lower slipping with a punch.

I've had a Bushmaster XM-15, NEA15 & Spikes tactical.
BM, wish I kept it for SR, only issue was some FTF's all caused by shitty 5 rnd magazines. Nice upper lower fit, who cares its not mil spec.
NEA, never missed a beat, wish I had kept that too, again only with some shitty 5 rnd magazines could not load them unless bolt was back.
ST, fit between upper and lower not as tight as the above two, but was my favourite, and still is.

now I want a 18" SPR rifle length ar15 for some fun, like the sound of the Colt's coming in, otherwise may be another ST or Area-Precision...

As for the Chinese Norinco's, all reports I have read say they shoot well, just a little rough around the edges... they just should be priced accordingly, then you really would get what you paid for.

The problem with colt is they have some stuff that is labelled colt and priced as such but isn't Really Colt

Do NZAR15 allow mixing and matching of parts to build a custom gun? I see they have several AR15 Kits but they aren't quite what I want. I like the look of Spikes Tactical lowers with the red pictograms and NEA FDE uppers..
