Versa vs Harris
Some years ago I bought a versapod with lockable tilt/pan. I used a few times but found it heavy and i didn't like the ugly bulky thing that attaches to the swing swivel. I chucked it in a draw and forgot about it. I then bought a lightweight harris 6-9 model with tilt and cant and put a pod lock on it and more recently gunworks spikes and I was happy enough although it's always a pain to fit quickly and I hate having it attached permanently to the rifle.
I was reading about Gimps wecsog modification over in the projects forum and realised that at least a few of you guys were using (and I guess prefer) the versapod. I did a quick googe and couldn't find too many illuminating arguments either way harris vs versa. What are the pro's of the versapod (aside from quick attachment) over the harris, which do you prefer and why?

I feel the Harris is a quality item, I like the locking and spring-loaded leg length adjustment. I don't like the attachment mechanism. The Versa-pod seems to be made of muck-metal compared to the Harris, but I do like that you get a nice hand-stop and QD Anschutz sling attachment point. I guess they both have their good features, and bad!

Versapod have new quick release models that attach to a picatinny rail.
Versa-Pod 300 Series Bipod

I have both (a versapod knock off and genuine Harris) and prefer the quick release on the Versapod arrangement. The legs are a notched ratchet system which is really quick to set up and solid.

I tried both brands early on.
-Versapod: as others have said- I liked the quick detach. But found them 1)less solid and 2)Less max height available. (Important: I only USED one specific versapod, so quality may not be the rule).
-Harris: Attachment not as convenient, but I shoot 95% off Bipod, so not too much of a hassle. Greater height available, much more solid (in my experience only).
-Have added a 'Pod-Loc' and Gunworks spikes to my Harriseseses: Would really reccomend both- much more positive lock, and can really load up the bipod when firing to make it super-steady.
Those new Versapods that Digit pointed out look great. I really like the fact that you can get them with a choice of: Claws/Sleds/Rubber pads on the end.
