Vixen V1 scope - zero turrets

I'm a bit of a fan of the inexpensive Vixen V1 scopes. Got a couple, one 3-12x40, and a 4-16x44. Since buying a rifle with a Vortex scope, and using reduced/subsonic rifle loads, have discovered the advantages of a dialable scope. I hadn't really considered the Vixen scopes to be dialable, more of set and forget, and use bdc hash marks for different loads.

Then the last couple of times at the range I had the rifles with the Vixen scopes, and I thought I would see how they dialled, 1/4 moa hash marks on the turret with numeral markings 0-11 around the turret. I was pleasantly surprised to find both scopes dialled well, even with a couple of revolutions for subsonic load at 100m, and returned to zero nicely. Figured I just had to remember the number they were on for zero, and it wasn't resetable.

Another pleasant surprise this evening, when I found having a closer look at the turret mechanism, the external ring can be roated back to zero simply by loosening the 2 small screws that hold it in plce, rotating it to carefully line up the zero with the static tick mark, then tightening them up. Maybe others already knew this, but I thought I would share by experiences in case not, as for me it makes the scope a whole lot more useful now, has increased my postive perception of them even more.

Couple of pics attached to help illustrate my point... plenty of room on top to add some small stickers for range, and I might add a more visible mark on the body as well for my getting older eyes...
