    Vortex Crossfire or Diamondback?

I'm looking at getting a 3-9x40 scope for the Howa Lightweight 308 I bought before lockdown and will pick up when the renewed license comes through. If you had a choice between a new Vortex Crossfire II V-Plex 3-9x40 at $299 or a new Diamondback 3-9x40 BDC at $399, would you still go for the Diamondback? The Vortex Crossfire II BDC 3-9x40 is still $399. Or am i better to look for a used 3-9x40 on the forum? Thanks

I have both and both are great. I have the cheaper bdc on my 308 and I have a diamond back but with the vmr1 reticle on my 223. Good glass for the price and I value both scopes the same.

Ive got a diamondback On my marlin lever Bumblefoot. Its a nice scope. The only thing that would put me off would be that it has quite a short focal length compared to say a VX1 leupold or similar.I had mine on a rem 700 and found that although I pulled it back as far as possible it was still just that wee bit short to be perfect. Tried different rings , no change. Put on a leupold , heaps on focal length. The Diamondback was a “shorter in length” scope. Just my thoughts.Cheers.

Diamondback has noticeably nicer glass to my eyes. Can get a loopy for close to the same money too though right?

The Diam0ndback is $399; Leupold Freedom start at $469. Yes; I am on a budget! If Natchez were still selling internationally I would have got another refurbed Nikon Buckmaster II. Thanks though

Out of the two I would go Diamondback. Have 2 one on a7mm Mag the other a 270 both have given zero problems to date.

I had a diamondback but I found the glass terrible, blurry as hell on the edges. I may have got a dodgy one but I'd pick a VX1 or a Freedom any day based on that. Can normally pick up a decent VX1 for 250-300 on on here or the other site. Just my thoughts.

@McNotty I was thinking along the same lines. Thanks!
@Hunterdave I'm a little wary about buying used on TM. I think I'll probably look for something from the good buggers on here. Thanks!
