About LinkBacks6500 are a very good scope and quite underated/overlooked in their price bracket, having not seen the new VX5 I couldnt give a direct comparison, I do know the 6500 are quite a heavy scope if weight is important to you, and also the MOA clicks on them are slightly out (easy to compensate with a ballistics program and doesent matter at 0-500 yds) as with all leupold products the lifetime no questions asked warranty is hard to go past
