Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, in .30/06. She is an old campaigner and I have had her for many years. She shoots extremely well, despite looking battered. Half the checkering is worn off the port side due to rubbing on a pack. The Leupold M8 was made the same year - 1981, and still serves very well.

But it always annoyed me that it had an old ugly ventilated recoil pad, and the length of pull was too short. I tried putting it in a different stock, but I actuallly like the old repeating arms featherweight stock, its one of the best rifle stocks ever designed I think, and I couldnt find a replacement. So I thought I would do something about it.

After seeing what they did with shotguns to increase length of pull, I fabricated another butt end, spliced it to the rest of it and fitted a butt plate (because I had some laying around) The walnut almost matches. Anyway I like it well enough that I don't notice it anymore, and it fits me.
I may fit a traditional red/orange recoil pad to it yet. Just because.
