WARNING ! Buying with a forged license

The same person has also purchased a pistol in a similar transaction in Tauranga using a licence (same person pictured) in the name of James Michael YATES.

If anyone knows the name of the person in the photograph please contact D/Sgt Glenn TOY 021 1915451.

Please advise your dealers and collectors to be on alert for fraudulent cards. The frauds are easy to spot if you look for a true hologram, and on the later cards, the clear core clear areas.

Besides you need one or two more bits of documentation to purchase a Pistol than just a Dodgy Firearms Licence.

As pointed out by PNZ, we are required to use a P2P. I just omitted the original line in the message "The paperwork used is an application form for a permit to procure! Do not transfer any firearms for which you have not seen a legitimate permit to procure."

Agreed maybe it's not a hoax as the story is also on the PNZ website.

Surely the sellers (Bonafide Collectors) can tell the difference between a "Blue Application Form" and a "Pink Permit To Procure" form as they would have had to complete this same process and forms themselves as part of their Collecting Activities.

Not today.

I think its an Aprils fools prank that has spread via social media and the more it spreads, the more the story gets embellished.
Once I see a genuine Police media release, then I might take it seriously.

My thoughts as well. Pink slip from club and POL67A with it being signed in front of police is required to purchase a pistol.

A legit licence says B (Pistol Club) on it as well.
Most dealers licence number start with T as well?

as long as the forging is well done its perfectly ok to do this you cant prosecute the poor man pictured as it my harm his career and its not his fault anyway he had a bad upbringing the way our laws work even if he did get caught heed have to do community service working in a gun shop and reside at some well known forgers house oh and surrender his gun license also we could be the ones that end up wearing it because we didnt do anything wrong :wtfsmilie:

Exactly, they won't prosecute the poor fellow, he was doing it for public good to show how easy it is to get a pistol illegally (even so I don't believe the story one bit).
Expect new ultra vires policy to be in place next week further restricting lawful FAL holders.

Don't think so - I've been in Auckland as long as I've had my FAL, and mine starts with T519 also.

Story made it to Prime News @ 17:30. Over in a flash, no drama in their presentation. Remains to see if TV3 makes a meal of it.

Many firearm licence numbers start with a "T". The first letter depends on when the holder originally obtained their licence.

I've never used a P2P and have no idea what one looks like.

I dont think it matters weather it a joke or not. Its still something thats not needed by law abiding firearms owners.

Using the PTP system is very simple and works well when both parties use it correctly.
The bigger concern for me is not the guy trying to buy these guns by breaking the law (This will always happen regardless) but the seller not following the system.
Really stupid.
If the seller followed the system correctly, the illegal buyer would most likely be with the cops already.

Agreed! This "collector" who sold the crim the pistol, ammo, etc. needs to be hung out to dry, as he committed a criminal act. So does HdPA, but I hear today that she won't be (Sunday Herald).What's wrong with this picture?
