Go 1:7" twist for the 88's. You don't need the action length of a Tikka. Even with an 88 seated all the way out it'll be under 2.8". My 22-250ai is built off of a Rem 700 SA and everything fits nicely.
I know Bergara's B14 in 22-250 is a 1:9" twist. Plenty for 69gr - maybe 75gr at a push with the extra speed (I wouldn't count on it though). Others may be catching up by now and releasing faster twists - dunno, haven't researched that far.

To go Semi factory 1in 8 twist, you have to buy two tikkas. 1 varmint one in 223 1 in 8 twist that you rechamber and use the bolt of a standard 22-250/ 308 bolt face.
But then you end up with a spare 223 bolt and a a barrel action you can t do much with other than sell as parts.
It can be done , but not the cheapest. Going the custom route might be better at the end of the day.

Wouldn't you be better off with a .243? Barrel life difference would result in a lower overall cost per round fired.
Only problem is they might not send to NZ unless you order like 50. It might have changed now but I went through this exercise myself about 3 years ago.....waited for ages then they came back with that. It may have changed though as they were only doing limited runs for US market back then.Quote:

I ended up doing a 22 Creedmoor on T3 action. Picked up a B14 cheap so might either do another 22 Creedmoor with it or 22.250 gast twist down the track.
A 22 Creed will shoot 88's with a 1:8 due to high revs but a 22.250 I'd think 1:7 better, or drop down to 80's. Also depends on barrel length what speeds get up to.

A friend has a Remington heavy barreled 250 coming up for sale complete with Zeiss scope. He used it for head shooting deer while he was commercial Hare shooting. Fired no more than ten boxes of ammo. Super accurate, not quite sure of the exact history but came here with a big wig from Cabelas on a hunting trip to a safari park and has been factory tickled
