I'm looking for a new toy, something light which I can carry miles up the rivers etc. Somthing that will accurately drive tracks at 200-300m and take out a red. Decently cheap calibre?

I was looking at trying to get a 6.5prc, checked out the ruger precision but was too heavy at 11lb bare rifle. Then I looked at a browning xbolt, with a mdt chassis. But may be months away. Christensen arms 6.5 prc , but again could be a while wait.

What would you all go for? Throw some build at me you would like to create which would fit the above.

300m is not that far almost all 308 based cased 6.5 mm and up will work. The harder parting is shooting accurate at that range (still very doable). The 6.5prc is likely over kill. Any of the 6.5 Creed, 260, 7mm08, 308, etc will work. Just pick one. The earlier ones being likely easier to shoot accurately.
