Thread: What can ( moderator) for Tikka T3 .243

I have a Tikka T3 in .243 cal.
Thinking of putting an over barrel can on to help with noise reduction.
Have looked at various posts to see if I need to shorten the barrel, and by how much. Don't want to lose accuracy on an already accurate rifle. Currently at 22. 7/16inch long. Using a VX3 CDS scope which has been set for 2940 ft/sec. Will shortening the barrel lower the current 2940 by much?

From what I have experienced, any of the DPT, Hardy, Gunworks etc cans work well. All I suggest is get the can from whoever threads the barrel. (Or conversely, whichever can you get, get them to thread the barrel.) Much easier to get the job done correctly and much easier if there is a warranty issue later as they cannot blame the other guy.

Oh, and avoid Rev Rog / Sub Silent Suppressors at all costs. That comes from personal experience with one of our customers who got one of his.....

Will do. Have to recalibrate the CDS scope as the loss of 100 ft/sec may alter the drop rate.

Hi,

The general recoomendation, without knowing everyones loads etc, is that you can shorten most calibres down to 20" comfortably.

Product wise for the .243 Win, if looking for a small suppressor that does not add much length, I would recommend our S series SL5:

If I was you I'd be going for either a HRE or DPT suppressor. Both great pieces of kit. I have both, deer can't tell the difference.

Weight and size is always an issue for me.

I have 2 dpt's and a Hardy gen 4 and I rate the Hardy ahead of the dpt
I really rate the Ase cans and will in the future use these cans on all my rifles.

The Ase are built like a tank. It is just not very comfortable to go in the bush or climb a mountain with a tank , for just a couple of shots at a couple of animals .
