Biggest areas to save easy weight are barrel length, purely less steel is weight. And the scope choice, can be a couple hundred grams in scopes pretty easily I found
but you not going to do that....you have finnally got back the rifle you love...and you not going to fcuk around with it...are you???my gianormus buddy!!!!!
that pain you felt when realized you should never have sold it...and the joy when managed to get it back...REMEMBER them next time you feel temptation creeping in....
Lightest suppressed boom stick I've owned was my 13" 7-08 with a 1-4 VXL, grouse little bush gun, fuk I regret selling that one 6lb 3 oz ( 2770g )

Is the top rifle a ruger carbine?
357 or 44? Such a shame those beautys had to go too ;
:(
Yeah a beautiful early 80's 44mag, had that rifle restored, stock had lovely timber - no cracks ( even around the rear of the action ) was an awesome little gun. I sold it a year or so before the "fuk tard buy up" god I hope it's been hidden away & never got put into the crusher, would break my heart

308 featherweight BSA Majestic, Leupold 3-7x33 and a full length barrel inlcuding open sights and the leather sling. Will be supressed over my dead body. 7.0 Lbs exactly.
Surprised how many guys have 9lb plus rifles,
Not sure weights on mine as it's 2.5 half years since I was last able to get to NZ,
Finnlight 7-08, Swarovski 3x10 Z3, cut to .17" will be the lightest,
M70. Featherweight, wood blue 22", 7x57, with a lecia 3x10 the other general rifle,
I've got a highly modified Kimber Montana .260, scoped with an unltra light scope is 5.2 oz, but no suspressor, thought about it several times, but think a suppressor will mess up the balance,
Whoo ho! just got a call back from Air New Zealand, on the way back for a month April 6th, get to see Dad and family, lay sum flowers on moms grave ( she passed last year), flick the fly rod around, and stomp around the hills, burning off sum fat, catch a few snapper, hope fully get a deer, pretty excited, been longest I've been away in 20 years,
The 270wsm is not all that inefficient and will take a barrel cut. Is yours 24"? Mine is 22" and I get the sorts of velocity that you quote for yours. It would still out perform an ordinary 270 24" barrel at 20"
That said, my 20" 300saum is just the bees knees so I can see why you would want to do it. Mine weighs 3.18kg scoped but without suppressor fitted. Shoots 168gr NBT at 3k. Ouch.

Sako carbon light in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Z8 I could save around 300grams I think by going to a Z5 but I'm happy to carry the extra weight for a way better scope.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d7d55c7314.jpg

OK, out of bounds a bit but no suppressor on the Finnwolf - yet it weighed 8lb+ last time I checked.
Still has a savage kick!
well buggermesideways...you CAN do it on the cheap LOL. it sure is a great rifle to carry and shoot...now go and shoot a deer with it will you,the plurry thing knows how, goodness knows we shot enough with it.
My Tikka T3 with DPT suppressor and VX5 3 x15 sling comes in at 8 lbs 12oz or 3.69 kg has been shortened to 22inch barrel
That's a 300 Win Mag
Another one , not suppressed, 280ai built on REM700 action, fluted bolt, 24in fluted TF bbl, CF stock, 3.5-18x44 Swaro Z5, weighs in at 7.4 lbs with T2 brake.
My 21" supprrssed 7saum is 3.5kg with 30mm z6
I feel like around the 3.5mark is a very nice carry weight
Ruger American 300BLK, Nikon Monarch, DPT overbarrel can, 3.2kg (all factory)
That's a pretty good weight all up. My 22" Barreled 7mm SAUM is 3.1 kg with a 30mm tube 4-20x50 Sightron, but that doesn't include the suppressor, which stays in my pack until I get to a lookout point and am getting ready to make a LR prone shot. I always carry the rifle without the suppressor fitted. I'm still carrying the weight of it of course.
The only rifles i carry all the while with their suppressors fitted are my shorter barreled rifles that only ever get fired with the suppressor on. Ie 17" 284, and 15" 708.
I know I shit on about running this with irons but I chickened out so weighed it wit some glass on it today. Bit heavier than lot of other rigs I’ve had but very “pointy” balances excellent and nice to shoot. Those old school Sako rings weigh a bloody tonne in themselves!

I guess i win :D
My garbage cheap setup is at least five kilos, my arms and shoulders really hate me when I go bush.
A mate that loves my little 15" M7 in the light Wildcat stock, now wants one, so im talking him into doing one on a new Kimber Hunter, whipping the Gel outta the stock, cut the barrel down, and fit Talleys, easily the cheapest way of achieving this result by a long shot.
Howa 1500 in mighty .270,gunworks spartan and M8 3X =4.390kgs
Heaviest mini action ever made: BSA Hunter action, Sako takeoff .243 barrel chambered in 6x45, VX3i 2.5-8, custom 8” long gunworks can and home made fibreglass stock. 3.6kg.
So much excess metal in those actions. Especially for the cartridge size!
Attachment 193845
There is a new Howa ultra light coming soon.
The size of the new action is between the mini and the standard for the 308 cartridges class.
