Point and shoot with thermal scopes is the only pro I can see.

If wind is the main concern - and I suggest it should be ,any 08 or similar case is much of a muchness. I’m still in the heavy high bc camp.

I had one made cos I figured it would be about perfect for shooting with a wired up sternum while I was convalescing, and I could sort of do sniping with it outside of the .223's range and performance. Although full house 88 loads are getting a bit stout for me. It's been great.

The extra margin under 300 yards is nothing compared to the .223, except a lot more meat damage. Over that it takes over.

[QUOTE=Philipo;1727500]Now I might just be a very simple low IQ tradie, but I'm just wondering what the hype is about the 22cm & why are there so many wanking emselves silly over it ?

From whet I gather everyone is running "big slippery" 80 -88's @ an ok speed but what are you using it for ?
If I wanted a mean varmint cannon wouldn't a really fast 55 be better for splat factor or is it a medium beastie killer ?

Te reason I ask is that I have contemplations about re-barreling my 6.5 to one & jump on the "fun bus" as it seems to have the coolest kids on it, but then I ran the numbers & spending 4k plus seems rather stupid even by my dumb arse standards

Where did you get the 4K figure from?
i spent $1600 getting one built up and that included getting the barrel fluted.
    That was rebarreling my 6.5 x 55.

Watching this one with Interest. I have come to pretty the same conclusion as @Philipo. I have 4x 6.5 CM's so I am looking for something to re barrel one of them to which would have a enough of a point of difference to the 6.5 CM to make it worthwhile. So far my conclusions are the same as Philipo.

I change cartridges on a whim. Not much logic is applied, it just feels fun.

I got one built because I think its a pretty cool round nothing more than that.
The same reason 4 foot high Phil drives round in a dodge ram when a suzuki Jimny would do the same thing.

You can't intimidate other drivers in a Jimny though

Gotta love phil logic, on one thread he’s calling the 22cm a “horney do it all rifle” and on this one he’s asking if it’s a do it all rifle

For me, it makes hunting and shooting enjoyable because it’s so easy to shoot well

Recoil is almost nil, the ballistics and speed you get are great, and it absolutely folds deer.

If you find shooting a bigger heavier recoiling cartridges equally fun and easy to shoot, or believe that you need a more powerful caliber to down big deer, then more power to you, your gun isn’t about what about what I like

The next argument you get is always ‘calibre bla bla did this back in the day, it’s nothing but a fancy bla bla’
Yes correct, you could get similar results with a 22-250ai, 220 swift 243 65 creed or whatever with the right equipment / parts

Variety is the spice of life and technology makes incremental improvements, so faster twists, better projectiles to match and better case designs make hit probability at distance objectively easier. This is one of the newer saami approved options

Not a fan? Don’t buy one, argue about it on the internet. The sun will still come up tomorrow. There’s literally a thousand cases that will work with various upsides and downsides to each depending on your task

If it’s worth it to you, it’s worth it. If it’s not worth it to you, it’s not worth it

    Stay salty yo xx

Most tradies are not rich they just live with high levels of debt

That's the best argument in favour that I have heard. I'm starting to get keen again.

This thread would never have arisen if Brads hadn’t bought one. Good choice Brads.
Phil is just being a lemon squeezer.
