    What's it worth?

Trying to sell my rifle and have absolute zero interest so wondering if I'm asking too much.

This is the add I've been running

    For sale:
Remington model 700 in .270 Win
My dad was original owner then passed it to me, not sure how many shots been through her. Shoots MOA with hand loaded Barnes 130gn TTSX. Comes with both stocks, wooden stock had woodwork done 3 months ago and barrel reblued. Synthetic stock virtually new only only used once in the bush.
Comes with leupold fixed 6 power scope (NOT PICTURED). One piece steel mounts and good solid rings.
Been a great rifle, only selling her to fund new project.
    Reasonable offers will be considered

I'll wait for a couple of estimates before I say what I've been asking. The price I've asked is a couple hundred more than what I want but figured people will wanna haggle it a bit.

    Cheers,

    BH

extra plastic stock 100 on its own but no added value as a package probably

Scope??? who knows as need more details e,g condition

    Rings/bases probably not much

theres my estimation, might have to deduct a few 100 cause its a 270

It's only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

Over here maybe $1100-$1200 assuming someone was looking for that type of combo.
But most people would probably wait it out if it was listed on trade and end up getting it for $900 after a few weeks of no one bidding on it

But what would most of us know about the market in Oz?

hmm thanks guys, I've been asking $1200, wanting $1k-$1100.

I think I need to work on my sales skills because it really is a great rifle that has been looked after very very well. When I say I don't know how many shots I'm guessing its about 500 max in its lifetime. I just don't wanna lead people astray.

nah, it sounds old, (unsure of rounds fired and it was your dads)
and im fairly sure you could get a new one for about that, and its a 270, most would want a 7mm08.

Where have you advertised it ?
    Usedguns ?

    Rifle with mounts $ 600 - $ 700 AU
    Scope $ 200 - $ 250 AU
Stock ? ( what make is it )

Sold as a complete package on used guns $ 650 - $ 750 AU if you want it gone reasonably quickly .
If your asking over $ 850 for it , it may take awhile to sell .
You have to remember Cleavers and a few others have brand new Howa's for example for under $ 700 , a buyer has no way of knowing how many rounds your rifle has shot and no backup or guarantee like they would get if they bought brand new from a dealer .
I have sold off a few firearms laterly and my advice is to sell scope , stock and firearm seperately , you will financially better off that way .
I personally would think long and hard about selling it especially if it has some family history connected to it , I bet their isn't a shooter alive that doesn't regret selling at least one of the rifles and wishes they never did it .

I thought the old remmy's were made better than the new ones? by that I mean I'm pretty sure the new ones are shit aren't they?

7mm08 isn't big in Aus like it is in NZ, so I don't really agree with that justification. I actually only know two people who've owned em to be honest here. In aus people generally have either .270, 308, 3006 or 300WM for deer. The odd person has a 7mmRM or a 338WM but for the most part that's its those common ones.

True, and I was going to keep it for purely sentimental value and don't really wanna get rid of it but at the end of the day if I do it'll just sit there and never get used. I spoke to the old man and he's ok with it. I'd rather see someone else using it than just going to waste.
I have spoken to two gun dealers and they said it should be worth that $1000-1100 mark but as you said getting it is the hardest part.

I have considered selling the rifle and synthetic stock separately, reckon I could get about the same money but sell it easier.

I'm not going for profit I just want to take out as much money off the new rifle I want as possible

Someone made the suggestion in another thread to get a second stock for your Bavarian .
I think that is a great suggestion . A new lightweight stock , and if necessary a different scope on a quick release mounts and you have a modular setup that allows you to quickly put together a rifle suited to different applications and conditions .
You could get all of that for quite a lot cheaper than a complete new rifle , and all your components would be of a high quality .
