Looking at getting a new barrel and action to start a new gun but don't know where to get one from any ideas guys
What do you want to build Luke and how much do you want to spend? Theres brand new barnard actions for around $1500, or you could go second hand rem 700 although sometimes they too are pretty pricey just for an action. Another good option would be to buy a new or secondhand Howa 1500 and rebarrel it.
Was thinking howa just not to sure we're to get one from
Send @Kiwi Greg a pm with some ideas on what you want to achieve with said rifle and I am sure you will get good advice Luke.
You want to think what you want to do with the rifle and go from there not get one first then think what can I do with it.
You may need 5 or more posts to pm? so just post here some more.
Keep an eye out on trademe or even on here the odd one pops up on the buy sell section, only thing is they seem hard to find aftermarket stocks etc for but when theres a will theres a way!
Just something to shoot a lot of goats with really
most rifles will do that. Like VC says give it some thought as having a rifle made this way gives you a chance to get what you want.
I'm just waiting for a new toy now. Is something a bit different from the usual super duper long range thingy ma jigs you normally see people buying (FWIW I ended up buying a remington m700 rifle to raid the action from and for now the stock).
the bad news is factory rifles generally work out to be more cost effective to buy
There is a very sweet 6.5 in the forsale section. I would probably buy that

Haha I must say I was quite impressed with the 270 on the weekend:D
No one's ever impressed with a gaytm:D
I've got a 223 but dosent queit reach out as far as I'd like it to and I've got the 6.5AI but just want something different
Try Gunworks, pretty sur they were selling Howa barreled actions a while back.
I'd probably just upgrade the scope on the 6.5 bro. That way you can dial and there's not going to be much that it cant do out to 5-600 on goats and 1000 on gongs.
I wouldn't bother building a rifle unless I wanted to:
A, spend a lot of money on something super dooper accurate.
B, just really really want to build one for some reason.
Plenty of really good cheap rifles that'll last a life time from Remington, Howa, Tikka and Savage. Going 2nd hand you can get some awesome deals.
All of which are easy to buy new bits for and customize later down the track.
2nd hand Tikkas are plentiful on Trademe, 223, 7mm08, 270, 308, 6.5x55 versions are up all the time.
The 6.5 Creedmore Savage in the for sale section would be an awesome buy, especially with the Hornady dies and brass.
There's a Rem action on Tard Me at the moment
The more I think about it the more the man makes sense ( tho he may not have been making any sense the times you have met him :yaeh am not durnk:)
I forget what scope was on there but you could find a second hand dialable decent scope for not much really and just shoot the shit out of it....im sure its what he would have wanted.
Probably not what you want but I have a p14 action fitted to a heavy target barrel in .308 that Im thinking of moving.
I have just advised him the vortex on the 223 will dial and is zeroable.
Luke you can either leave it on the 223 and practice with that or swap the zeiss out and put the vortex on the 6.5. I wouldnt worry about getting a new rifle until you are sick off what youve got. You are about to be struck with an illness that has no cure......long range ;)
Ballsacks smacked the 1000 yard gong with that 223 and vortex here.
7mmsaum was present to see it.
