you could be onto something there would be quite a market for all those mad keen hunters that never seem to have the time to get out and do it.

While @Hermitage may well be able to say that he has a better deer calibre than me, I can safely make the opposite claim. As I just use a .223 with 55gn Belmont reloads it is safe to say very few people will have a less impressive calibre that is still able to ethically take deer at appropriate range.

@Hermitage That's the nicest tribute I've ever heard for the .303 British.....

The rifle is small weighing no more than 1kg and is linked to your personal communication and information device. You set up the rifle on its folding legs and go hunting for deer on your device. This is equiped with an enhanced GPS unit that allows you to virtually swoop through the likely spots in your hunting area. This is a bit like a drone but without all the noise. Once an acceptable deer is spotted you align the cross hairs of your device on a vital spot and press the big red button that is marked launch. At this point your rifle launches a projectile which then accelerates up to 3,000 metres per second. The projectile is equipped with a propulsion system based on the Hyper Improbability Drive described by Douglas Adams in his four part work some years ago. Your projectile is guided to your selected spot on the deer by its internal tracking system so further input from you is not required. Sound a little far fetched? Maybe but you never know.
    Regards Grandpamac.
The British used an early version of this in the Falklands called a wire guided missile, I believe they have been improved in the years since and no longer require the wire.

    Greetings @Happy Jack,
The shoulder fired tank missiles presently being used in Ukraine exhibit a lot of the features I mentioned including the locked on guidance but not the Hyper Improbability Drive unfortunately. The difference between impossible and possible is often only time. Hunters from around 100 years ago would not recognise most the kit carried by todays hunters. They would recognise some of the cartridges though. Vast strides in some areas but not so much in others.
    Regards Grandpamac.

@grandpamac I only have one issue with this concept....Douglas Adams work was a 5 part trilogy, not a 4 part as you suggested...Now if he had written a 42 part trilogy, that would have been the answer to many problems.......
