    Yugoslav M48 Surplus Rifles

Does anyone have one of these? How common are they here?

I’d like a K98k, but I don’t want a collectors piece that I’m paying a huge premium for just for it to sit in the safe.

I’m looking for something shootable, and not worrying about getting serious range time and devaluing some wartime Oberndorf rifle.

Guess I can wait and see what’s coming up in the next Carvells auction, but I’m interested to see who’s got one and how they like them.

Like they say... good enough for army work! I’m no crack shot, just enjoy shooting old rifles.

If any fully wooded ones come up I’ll be very interested.

Mate has one. Very agricultural compared to their Belgian/Czech/German counterparts, but they shoot well.

How much would you expect for genuine 98K's rebarreled in 3006?
    Early ones from the 1930's.

    Kongsberg våpenfabrikk

Yes they were service rifled converted to 3006 in the 1950's.
Excellent shooters and all original except the barrel and a groove milled in the receiver ring to accept the longer cartridge in charger clips.

The Norwegian post-war remakes are very nice examples, mostly all matching with mint bores as the German garrison were stationed there at the beginning and never saw much action after that. One of the better captured rifles if one was looking for a mint, as-issued rifle. Its right to say it will be rare to see them here although fairly common in the US and over there, I believe they fetch just under a mint K98 non-RC. Obviously there will be price variation favouring a lesser produced manufacturer code and service i.e. rifle belonged to the Luftwaffe or Kriegsmarine.
