Very interesting posts @Beavis with quite a bit to study. Was this factory ammo or reloads? My experiences with some shall we say "variations in POI" was what prompted me to critique my previous shooting technique, and explore some new thinking. I posted about this in the "3 Finger shooting" thread as it was a revelation to me and has improved my consistency considerably- and without any effort on my part. It works especially well with M4 ergonomics, I reckon I've reduced the groups I was shooting with the Elude chassis by 10-20%

This is with handloads. 73gr ELD, PMC brass, CC450, 24.5gr 2208. This load does not post any accuracy records, but it has proven to be very stable and predictable in terms of dispersion in this barrel.

My disastrous field zero check was done off a MDT Cyke pod, prone, rear bag. I was posting groups 1.5 mil high and half a mil left, then adjusted, then posting .5 mil low. Chasing my tail. Ripped off the Arca rail and bipod, shot off a back pack. Posted better results but still not happy.

Contrast this with off the bench from heavy bags. No stress at all. Gun doesn't move around. I'm inclined to believe the field zero adventure was entirely me. I don't really shoot prone off a bipod all that much. The sun was belting on one side of my face and into the ocular making me strain my eyes. If anything it shows how things can fall apart in sub optimal conditions.

S&L 223 today in the rain with grandson in attendance jumping about as they do. This rifle has had a lot done to it since it's last check which has considerably improved its groups (I'll write that up in a separate thread) but despite being out of the walnut stock several times this is a good enough zero. Might go a couple of clicks left now I've sorted it.

Where was it before? This doesn't tell us a whole lot about whether the zero has shifted

How's everyone's zero going? This one still shows no evidence of a shift. Only put 5 through it yesterday cos it was raining. Been on a few work & personal trips and shot a heap of goats & a couple of deer & the NRL hunter match. Still good.
