    1st fallow

Took a friend and his 18yo son out last week after work. A local spot that I enjoy frequent success especially if I go after work. We found a few deer, 1st time seeing fallow in this spot. I had always heard they were present but never laid eyes on one. Been hunting for 25yrs and until 3 years ago I had never seen fallow in the wild. Anyway watched a couple for 5-10min before this boy walked out. 2nd deer for my new 155g ELD M reloads in the 308, 270m lights out. About 20min before I took a resting red at 440m. That one laid it's head down, stretched it's legs and never moved any further. Got home at 1am. Neither father or son were comfortable taking the fallow. Great evening.

Yea Marlborough region. Looking forward to eating it, he had almost 20mm of fat over his whole body, even in the middle of his back legs had a good chunk of fat through it.

Nice work. I've been reading about the fallow herds over here in Nelson, but the easy to get to ones are in areas that get huge amounts of foot traffic, so I'm guessing are pretty shy.
