About LinkBacksI went out last night to try and get my first deer for the year. I have had a few chances this year but haven't taken the shot for a number of reasons. But last night it all came together.
Rob and I headed out to watch a large clearing at the top of a face. About 7pm three deer, two hinds and a yearling came out.
Ranged them at 634 yds. Conditions were
634 yds
-9 degrees angle
1006 mBar
18oC
40% humidity
4 mph wind from 112 degrees (from over right shoulder)
I was using my 7mm Rem Mag shooting 168 Bergers at 3070 fps.
Shooter said 10.7 MOA up and 0.9MOA right.
Dialled that in to the scope and waited for the yearling to offer a broadside shot. It finally did, and i dropped it with one shot. Rob managed to video it but that will take a while to put up, so here are some photos in the meanwhile.

Fantastic Stug, great shooting, well done.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded

Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Self taught, read heaps from Greg Duley and Longrangehunting.com Then it is a matter of putting in the effort. I am a believer in Shawn Carlocks idea of rock hunting. That and being a gadget/gear freak helps. Originally Posted by walkabout
