Thanks for sharing and what an awesome head of Brian's.
Very sorry to hear that Tilly's hunting days are over it's such a sad time when your most loyal friends time gets to the end.
Enjoy what you you have left.

Very sorry to hear this news about Tilly, Bruce. I hope she comes home soon and is comfortable and can enjoy some R&R. Seriously impressed with Brian's trophy, wel done mate.
Update on Tilly. I brought her home from the vet this morning.
4 weeks rest and drugs and then a re-assessment.
She's very happy to be home and Im happy to have her back. She's dragging her legs a bit but can walk and is reasonably mobile. Time will tell but at least in the mean time she and I can sit in the sun in the back yard and yarn about the good old days.
Thanks for all of the messages about her well being.
Bruce & Tilly
Great news Bruce :)
One thing to watch for is once the pain meds kick in, she might be tempted to leap about a bit which can cause a reoccurrence of the back problems. I know when my girl had her first cruciate ligament done, if I got up quick to go outside she would try to follow just as fast. It's hard to keep a good dog down :)
Reading this brought a tear to my eye Tahr, hope Tilly makes it home for a bit longer. 252, what a tally, as many have said before, you probably shoot more deer in a year than most of us will in a lifetime.
Congrats on the 12 Brian. Great looking head.
Good to hear Tilly is home and comfortable.
Nice head Brian you’d be happy with that result.
Sadly dogs always go too soon, but that is what dogs do.
Thank you for sharing, best read I had in weeks.
Hope you get a new dog, you seems to offer them a good life.
My hunting dog went the same way a few months ago. Collapsed in the back end. She was a lab / heading dog x and was pretty handy. Made it to 10. To be fair she had a tough life. Up and down steep ridges, in and out of slippery cold creeks and pushing through lots of thick undergrowth. All this in the ruahines, kawekas and ahimanawas.
But when she found a deer she smiled and knew that venison was on the menu.
Picking up a new straight heading dog pup on Wednesday. Will hopefully start doing some work with it in the spring.
Hope your dog has the winter by the fire.
Congrats on the great Stag Brian
Sad to hear of Tillys retirement but glad she is relaxing at home now Thar.
It is a great shame dogs dont live very long but it does mean you get to make memories with many threw your life.
Always enjoyed your hunt reports & sad to hear about Tilly , I can remember when you 1st got the pup , live the dream... good on you .
