Finally got past 1k

We went to our spot for some more LR hunting this morning.
The weather was better that last time with a bit of mist & very light drizzle.
After glassing for a fair while we decided to move to another spot.
We had been glassing for a wee while then I spotted a Red Deers arse way up the hill.
I ranged it at 900 ish, we had already decided that 1000+ was the goal for the day so we packed up & went back down the hill.
On the way down we joked about how guys usually always try to get closer not further away....
We found a suitable spot and set up, 1045 yards & 22 degrees up.
We waited until she was in a good position & the 338 Imp broke the silence.
I regained sight picture just in time to see the 300 grain Gen II hit her & roll her down the hill, then heard the impact :cool:

Shootin Tex! Yards or metres still a bloody good, cold barrel shot. I would have to add another 402 yrds to match that. I most likely never will, as I wont ever own a big thumper or engage an animal that far with little 6.5's I like to use.

I just got back from going for a look for those ones that were "miles away"
To cold a wet foggy wind for anything to be out.bugger. Just dont know what it will be like till ya get there.
Now my knees are stuffed.

Nice to see Greg.
Did you use the Vectronix ? How due you find it in rain/ mist/ snowy conditions or don't you have that sort of weather in NZ? I'm having a lot of trouble with my Leica when the sky opens up (280 of 360 days here).
Was out shooting to 1120 yesterday but oh it was a long time before I got a reliable reading from the laser.

I didn't need the PLRF that day, have used it on other days though.

You are right, the slightest bit of mist/fog & my Geovids of CRF16 won't read at all....:XD:

The fog will still upset the PLRF, but I have found if you can see through it enough to see your target reasonably well they will range it :cool:

I haven't tried them in snow yet & hopefully won't have the oppertunity this week......
