    First for the Blackout

Yesterday arvo I was trying to do my real job but kept getting interrupted by my secondary, more exciting job.....

One of the interruptions was a farmer that has a rough hill close to the road that I shoot on in pig season, I haven't been yet this year

"I've been trying to get hold of you for a few days now; the pigs are wrecking the hill"
"I will be down tonight" I said, hoping the Boss could organise a sitter...
"They are big ones, there is plenty of rooting, the Bastards" was his parting comment.

One of the major concerns I had was deciding which toys to take....
I'll take the Titanium 7-375, opps no bolt, the 6mm-204? No scope, the 22-Terminator, too heavy, the super light 22-Terminator, yep even had a sighted in scope & bullets, one down for the Boss to take.
Could have taken the 6.5 Wsm but that has "been there & done that" heaps of times....
I could take a 338 or 375 but that is just being silly......Hell this is heavy.........BOOOM.....shit is there anything left????

Nope I really want to take the Blackout.

I borrowed a set of Alumina caps off one of the other VX3 4.5-14x40 CDS scopes I have.
Looked at the dial & thought Hell what did I zero it for & it isn't on Zero, I fired 110, 125, 150 & 165s through it last weekend... Bugger...
I bore sighted it, but still wasn't sure, I knew the windage would be pretty good probably...
So I loaded some bullets, 125 BTs with Hodgen Lillgun around one of the loads I used in the weekend.

The Boss managed to get a Niece to look after her boy
So off we went I set up a target on the way at about 50 yards, just to try & put my mind at rest...

Not too bad for leaning on the bonnet, "Did you grab the brass" the Boss wanted to know, old habits from the range
I figured I would come up 9moa to try & put the POI about where I wanted it.

We got to spot X & I made a Rookie mistake with the AR, I quietly loaded it as some pigs could have been pretty close......

Looked in the usual haunts but no dice, so over the creek & up the hill we went...no bloody sign...where are these pigs.....bloody farmers....
We got to the end & looked up the bank, still nothing but there was a bit of rooting, it is pretty steep & crappy so I left the Boss on the track & told her to go back the way we came, I would have a look along the top parallel & above her.

The dead grass was well past my knees with the odd broom & gorse bush chucked in for good measure, but man was there some rooting....
I kept looking down the hill so I could keep an eye on the Boss & know exactly where she was, the rooting just got thicker & thicker.

Then I saw a bush moving about 30yards directly in front of me & I could see most of a spotted Pig close to the edge of the "paddock" near the Pines.
I had a bit of broom in the way so I slowly crept forward to get it out of my line of sight, I figured there would be more Pigs there somewhere & wanted a chance at a couple....
I cleared the bit of broom to see more of the little hollow & there is a black Pig arse on happily rooting away about 15 yards away
She wasn’t offering a shot so I turned my attention to the spotted one yep still happy, right oh then, up & "CLICK"....shit shit shit bugger...
WTF, checked the chamber as I pulled back the charging handle, yep round in chamber, pushed it back onto the round with some force quietly, yep they are still there, Dumb Buggers, up again & another loud "CLICK" "FFS" they are just here you stupid prick" I thought, Bugger it, I just pulled the handle back, ejected the live round & let it go "CRUNCH"
I looked up & the Black one was looking at me, like "WTF is that", I couldn't believe it & wasn't buggering about any longer, BOOM, thank goodness for that I thought, or something similar

The other one took off, if it hadn't already, so I found my live round with a tiny firing pin indent in it.....lesson learnt.
I walked the 10-15 steps to pick her up to drag her down to the Boss & away from where they have been hanging out.
So here she is just "hanging about" "chilling out" this morning

The Farmer said they were big

Here is the 125 BT I recovered, it hit her in the neck went under her shoulder smashed some ribs, busted her gut & popped out on the grass as I gutted her.
Was doing about 2250-2300fps I guess.

Very happy with its performance, the AR is a great light weight platform; I will be getting a suppressor for it soon.
Thanks to the Guys that talked me into getting one.

The thing is we all know about Farmers & everything is relative....

I have had it less than a week; here is the AR & its first victim,

A whole 32lbs, I think I need to be further behind her

Looking forward to going back, maybe there are some bigger ones........

Well done KG. that will be a nice little eater
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

I don't pick them up I drag them, don't want to get dirty now....

Yep I made that brass out of odds & sodds I picked up from the range, it has been fired a few times, will probably get "lost" before it dies.

If you worry about brass a rattle gun is not for you

    I know F all about AR's too

I believe I needed to make alot of noise cocking it

Like pull it right back & let it go

I might be able to get it to work by using the forward assist, will have a play at the range.
