First hunting trip to NW Ruahines

Morning All, at the start of the New Year I will be heading of on my first proper hunting trip, spending 4 days in the North West Ruahines, staying at Kawhatau Base with a couple of mates.

Just wondering who's hunted this area, what the terrain is like and what the animal numbers are like?

In the unlikely event that I actually bag a deer what is the best way to transport it back home? Roof, boot of truck, or chilly bin? (if I can get hold of one)

Sorry for the stupid questions, cheers.

Bugger, meant to post this in the hunting section, not the magazine section. Anyone know if I can move it?

    Hi,
For getting the deer home it doesn't really matter. If you have shot a deer in the Ruahines then you have to have carried it back to your truck in the first place. If you carried it out whole (Good on ya!) then having the whole thing in the back of the ute/boot is fine if the mess can be cleaned up easy. On the other hand if you have boned it out and it is in a meat bag then just remove that from your pack and then put that in the ute/boot.
    Cheers
