    freezer fillers

    Hi Guys

Did not manage many hunts over the summer, have been out last couple of weeks though and managed to stock the freezer

Great time to be chasing Fallow, tend to be feeding up getting ready for the rut

Managed this wee buck, out in the scrub putting on condition, nice layer of fat. Only guessing but there must be something in the scrub they like to grow heads as it is a prime spot to find them this time of year. Dog did a good find on this steep face, scrub pretty thick so glad she was along.Name: IMG_0158.JPG

Was out yesterday on a beautiful autumn day in Rankleburn, lovely walk up the hill; with a gentle breeze blowing downhill, spooked a couple and rather than taking off entirely as normally happens they kept moving about 50 meters in front and stopping and barking. The 2 deer eventually stopped on a ferny face, with a convenient tree rest a 100 meter shot landed just where it was supposed tooName: IMG_0166.jpg

No dog this time as block was 1080d in December, been a while since I had to find my own deer, luckily she only took a couple of steps before falling over.

So freezer full and with a week on the haast and a week in the upper greenstone I can now concentrate on putting a decent head on the wall. Never been much of a trophy hunter but nice to have the luxury of not pulling the trigger, not sure if Max the hound will understand about letting them walk away...haha

Any way boys good luck for the Roar

    Cheers

Awesome man , good stuff, I'm so looking forward to moving out of my flat and into a house, so I can get a dog
You know, if you need 100 rounds to kill a deer, maybe hunting isn't your sport.

    Hi Guys

Stug..Maxi loves it on the Hill, she really loves finding deer, pretty bloody good at it too

Fallowdeer, Max is a German Wire Haired Pointer, pretty good on the deer, hoping to test her versatility this year with some more Quail hunting as well as some ducks.

The second deer is on the small side, handy as 3 hours from the truck and they do seem to taste better

    Cheers
