Hard but productive night at the office

Right i don't usually do a write up for stories but i thought i would for a change.
Been flat out with work the last few weeks and haven't been able to get out much, and with a need to blood the new 243 Ackley (thanks Tuiman) i thought i would go for a walk after doing my 2nd job delivering sperm. Yea thats right "SPERM" haha (could be opening myself up here but owell)
Work for LIC anyway..............finished the delivery at 8pm near a place i know there is a few deer rolling round, so after a quick talk to the owner i was heading up the valley to the "secret lookout" after taking in a few deep breaths......... getting up the hill i was sitting, waiting, ready 8:20pm. Sat there for around 20min started to get cold, chucked on a few more layers and had another look around and " wallah" deer spotted down on one of the grassy flats.
Ranged at 442yards wind was blowing a very strong left to right which was not ideal, so i crawled closer. Managed to get to 400yards and couldn't really get any closer without getting seen so that would have to be it. Settled down into a nice shooting position ammo and drop chart all sorted 4.25 moa up i was lying down ready for that bloody wind to stop, (i also tried to take a photo through the scope with my phone but that was a total fail!) after a few minutes there was a break in the wind and the deer went side on at the same time, this was the chance.
Was thinking to myself if i aim straight at the crease if the wind blows it alittle then it will go through the shoulder so i should be mint. Squeased the shot off and the tel tale "thud" came back, Awesome!!!! deer jumped up ran for 5-10 meters then fell over. I watched it in the scope for a couple of minutes and then walked over to it.
Cut its throat when i got there, (ive had a couple of bad experiences where the deer have tried to get up at run away even with a 300g 338 through its shoulder)
Gutted the deer and found id hit right where i had aimed and the 105 amax did a great job of the lungs and heart so was happy with that.
left my rifle and pack with the deer and Started walking back the the truck and managed to spot another deer with my quickly going flat head torch not 20 meters in front of me
one of those "bugger" times but all was good, magic time out and managed to put a deer into the in-laws freezer.
So to sum it up i got paid to go and shoot a deer and i think you couldn't get much better than that
    Hope you enjoy

Nice. Gotta get Abe to send mine back. What powder you running?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Well done, that is a nice young stag. The eating will be good. Resisting strongly the urge to say something about the sperm delivery but i suspect many of us have done a fair bit of that over the years.
