I got a new knife the other day

It's a Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter. Replacing my Svord 3 inch Hiker. The Svord was a good little knife, but it rusts like crazy even with regular oiling, and it doesn't seem to hold an edge even just chilling out on the shelf inside the sheath. This Cold Steel weighs 2 grams more than the Svord, has a full-tang blade of VG-1 stainless, and a tacky feeling rubber grip with a small finger-guard to stop my hand slipping onto the blade - something the Svord lacks, really. Good deal for $60 I think. The only complaint I can make is that the sheath is a heavy-ass concoction of nylon and kydex, but that's not a problem - it fits in the light leather sheath of the Svord.

Oh, and I cut up this guy with it on Tuesday night, worked really well.

yeh i changed the angle a bit on my svord, worked a bit better but still average steel despite the hype. looks like that cold steel could do with a lick or two to get rid of the factory edge

Be interested to see what you think of edge retention after a few more animals...oh and how dare you shoot a velvety :thumbsup:

Is $60 the normal price? Sounds like a great deal. Looks like a nice useful knife, similar shape to the Fallkniven F1? I have a $10 aliexpress F1 ripoff, the steel is... as you'd expect for $10 but I like the shape.

$38US from Knifeworks at the moment, I was going to buy one from there but instead got it from my flatmate who had a brand new one lying around, never been used. Seems to be holding an edge nicely. Hopefully get a cham in the next 2 days around Arthur's and engage in further testing

Very nice. Do they do that model in a high carbon steel? I.e not stainless?

You should never store a knife in its leather sheath, leather holds both water, and the goo that tanned and dyed the leather, and that in contact with the blade, stainless or carbon, will corrode it, stainless does take longer but will still corrode.

I know, I lined the sheath of my svord with plastic to mitigate this
