That's a fair question.
It was blowing a gale from behind me and I was going to give up because I thought my scent would have stuffed it. But every now and again when I got on the lee-side of the ridge I was on she would wind/indicate a bit. It told me that maybe the wind was going high off the ridge and there might be still something lower down, and the wind was eddying back up.
So I persisted and my hunch (well, her hunch actually) was correct. I spotted the deer through my binos 300 yards away in a hole in the scrub, so she had no part in that part.
Then when I got over to the face I shot it on I couldn't for the life of me find the spot amongst the scrub, so I moved up higher and around a bit and asked her to find it. Funny enough, she scented me to within 15 yards of where it was but she couldn't actually find it. I actually did. Dunno what that was about. She was off in another direction rushing around with her nose in the air.
It was the 60th deer I have shot with her.
