    Kaikoura 202 - Hunting 101

I met a guy at the end of my road one day, about three years ago, he turn out to be a great bloke and we shared an interest in spear fishing. Eventually we got him his first deer and since then we’ve hunted and fished quite a bit together, it’s great to have someone close by to discuss hunting and diving and someone to share venison with, from time to time; my favourite people are those that take whole legs!
I’d booked a trip to Kaikoura, hoping to go with two or three family members who all were eventually unavailable, so Ben jumped at the opportunity to hunt in the South Island for the first time. I’ll let the video tell the story, but I reckon Ben’s (first) pig is heavier than 200 pounds.

Those knees and the legs they're attached to look like they have done some hard miles.

They didn’t enjoy the Spaniard Grass and rocks that they had to bash through to get to that dead spiker!
It was worth it in the end, we made it back to the quad at 9:30pm, in bed about 11:00pm, then woken up by wind at 3:00am the next morning! Ah the adventure, that’s what we do it for. :-)
