Kaimais, Kaimanawas, & Tongariro National Park

Thought I'd share a few pics that have been on my camera in the last few months, no deer just scenic ones:

Kaimais: This roar turned out to be a challenging one with only two stags seen, and one missed shot. Next year hopefully I'll be more successful.

Kaimanawas: Only two trips this year, but always very enjoyable. Got a Sika stag heehaw calling which put a smile on my dial:

Tongariro National Park last weekend: Trout fish was in order first while it was still snowing (Personal best brown at 2.5kg). Then when the snow had stopped it was time to get the toes cold in some white stuff. Must have just missed intercepting these deer.

But at least I can get some roaches for the pot

Some nice pics there mate, thanks for sharing.
I think you may have mis labelled one though. It says Kaimais, but there is at least ten meters of visibility, so it must be somewhere else

I know that clearing well: http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...k-img_2984.jpg

I have also hunted a bit in the snow at natty park so know the frustration of finding prints in the snow, sometimes on the way back to the car the prints are over the top of your own

Yea that clearing is pretty easy to find if you punch the co-ords in from google earth. First time hunting.in the snow. Grabbing trees and having a bucket load of snow dumped on your head wakes you up.

You'd think so Scouser. But im yet to bump into any deer close by them. I reckon the buggers go there at night and jump all over the wallows then retreat back to hide in the supplejack and watch us humans in the day standing their scratching our heads.

    Good stuff Rusky.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Found an old stand/hide up kaimai's, These bars someone had driven them into the tree trunk all the way up past where you can see in photo.
And behind where photo was taken is a old seat out of a van, Ropes etc still hanging in top of tree from where seat had been placed.
