Being an import myself I can say it's definitely the outdoors that have bonded me with the Inlaws I've always been a fisherman but NZ gave me the chance to hunt which I don't take for granted and the father and brother in law were a great help in me finding my feet, and they share in any success if they are there or not....... That will mean a lot to those fellas and I'm surprised no one on here has asked if you have any more daughters Nice one.

Good stuff @Tahr . Why do you keep the ears on the carcass? I meant to ask this ages ago after seeing pictures of people carrying animals out just kept forgetting.

Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

Like Sam, it was his first ever shot from a rifle. I also got Chris onto the knife and he didn't make a bad job of that either.
    Good times.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

@Boar Freak for me its a hang over from my commercial meat hunting days. The meat packers (Consolidated Traders in my case) would only take carcasses with their ears on. The ears were proof that they were wild animals and not farmed or stolen.

A deer carcass without its ears on still looks odd to me.

OK thanks. I thought there was some reason why people keep them on (special skinning technique or something) .

    This is hard case...

After Chris shot the Fallow in the pouring rain a spiker popped out for a nose. I had a new little Cannon camera (pocket size, 40x zoom) I was trying so I took a few pics. It was raining and in poor light.

I thought I was taking stills but the camera has a setting where when you take a still pic it immediately follows up with 5 seconds of vid and then compiles it all. I accidentally had that setting on and this is the rather bizarre result:

    Hard case alright Tahr.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
