Not the target species
I left home at 5am this morning to check an area I've not hunted for 3 years. It did used to hold good numbers of red deer. I started my climb in the dark at 6:30 am. Soon I was up on the ridge heading up through the bush. It was a beautiful still day so I was giving the odd toot on the horn. Nothing replied . Heard no roars all day. I was on the hill for 11 hours.
Still when I was having some lunch I was glassing away when I spotted a chamois. One turned into five. 800 yds away through some shitty bluffs.

Nothing better to do so after some character building stuff I was in the shittiest shooting position imaginable. Still at 160 yds it wasn't far. A good smack came back . I found the doe in the creek bed.

A quick butcher and I was on me way. The only deer I did see cracked me up. I was heading down a 1500 yd scree at Mach 5 when I looked to me left and there was a google eyed hind freaking out 50 yds away. With a packful of meat I waved and continued down.
Good walk. 12 Kms ascending 1350 m

Ok. Very distinctive game flavour. People either love it or hate it in my experience.

Nice one Nathan, like your ethical stance on the hind as you had a pack full of meat......good stuff....looks fukin steep & barren up there!!!!!!
