    Personal best trip

Me and the hound went out for a recon trip and found out that the stags were roaring all night until 8am, 20+ stags in our area. Most of the hinds didn't have stags with them. I wish a had a decent camera seen two 8 point stags hard out fighting for the last 10 minutes of light on a small clearing, I haven't seen wild stags fight like that since 2005 in Fiorldand. Seen plenty of hinds and 9 stags for the trip. I even had a stag thrashing trees 30m from camp at 5:45am for 10 minutes before I made to much noise getting out of my bivy bag. All animals shot with 300 Blackout/subsonic Lehigh 194gr ME.

This trip was a trip of many personal firsts for me.
    # First trip I shot more deer and pigs than I drunk coffee.
    # first trip that all deer I shot were beded down.
    # first time that I and the dog have stalked on a stag and shot it at 3m yes no typo 3m, 5m was my best before.
    # first time I ran into more deer walking out than walking in this area.

    1 of 3 pigs shot

We were walking along a main ridge of the tops and the dog was winding hard on a spur so we stalked down it into the wind, 200m later the dog was locked up and were standing 3m from a stag beded down with a couple of large trees in my for a head shot so I double tapped him in the shoulder.

Solo hind we were watching for 20 minutes, shot at 70m with a 42 degree down. We couldn't get any closer too many loose rocks and had to double tap her to in the shoulder.

A shitty 7 point stag the dog got me onto, 40m

hillclima, P38, Shootm and 12 others like this.

    What a great trip.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
