Congrats guys - awesome country, story and pix. Stag like that in open country - yeah tin arse alright. You'll have to go for the chamois.

Bloody good trip report and with a awesome result!
How many days were you in for/planned for?
Looks like you had more gear than Adam(the other one) and I had for ten days in F land and we had a boat/motor/fuel as well!

You may have been lucky but dont sell yourself short, If I read it right you picked the spot to fly into, and hunted that stag on your own with a mate on the radio and thats what good hunting mates do for each other.
    Bloody well done!

Excellent report, and a top notch stag. Pity the weather turned you may have found the other stag or maybe the Chamois.

Yeah mate you're spot on, the whole idea of the trip was to not just be a "shoot the shit out'a everything" but locate a decent animal & then come up with a plan of attack.
Adam put in effort, shot well & then put in the hard yards to retrieve, was well earned & while I call him a "tin arse" that's tongue"n"cheek as he did bloody well & sometimes things just come together & work
