    Range Time

Well this morning ebf and I teed up and headed out to Kaitoke for some shooting. I'll let him explain his toys and set up, I was out to see how the Savage that I am reviewing for Blokes held up. Man! I was very impressed! I only peeled the sticker off this brand new shooter before cracking out these groupings at 50m then 100m

I am happy that I don't suck at shooting

DAF joined us out in the frigid wind and put my set up to shame! There was another hunter out there who laughed at my lame joke ("hey, I like your bi-pod. It's the same make as mine I think!" pointing at our day packs set up on the range tables!) and some muppets with tiny cocks down the end with a .22 with a break on it? Weird, but each to their own...I didn't like the big booms from their other cannons but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy looking down my scope and comparing their targets to mine...

Here's my low-tech set up compared to Mr World's over there!

Thanks lads for an awesome time - I'm home now thawing out! And thank you Mrs ebf for an awesome lunch complete with roast pork sammies on fresh home made bread..and a wonderful desert that I didn't deserve! Yum!

    Not bad for a Monday

Great going on using a daybag. It's what you would be shooting off if you had to find something in the bush.
Nice groupings on the paper. A dead deer on both

    Fun morning

I had couple of rifles to zero after swopping rings between my FTR rifle and 22 semi. Also got to fire the Remmy 788 restoration project I picked up on TM for the first time. Very happy with it, shoots pretty good for a rifle that is as old as I am... Going to take it appart and start working on the stock and then re-blue the barrel now that I know it is a keeper.

Got Dougie to nail a small pinecone at 209 yards using my Marlin, just love that little rifle.

DAF let us play with his 300 Blackout, had a good blat firing it offhand. Um, yes, and then there is his new F-Open machine, HOLY CRAP !!! Very nice glass mate, and that trigger...

Was nice to get out the wind, I am convinced the Kaitoke range is 10 degrees colder than the surrounding area. We'll all need to re-convene to do the 22 postal shoot soon

Savage is 223. Black Beauty made it out there (you can see her in her awesome soft case poking out in one of the pics) but I already know she shoots well and the cost of that ammo, I'd rather spend it taking down a deer also, not keen to be like ebf and have a truck load of guns to clean before dinner hahaha!

That American eagle 50gn tipped ammo shoots very well.
