    Rimu

The sun is out to get me.

I retire to the high ridge where a light breeze delivers some comfort and the thick canopy creates a dramatic contrast of light and dark.

It’s cool amongst the crown fern and the slow sipping of cowboy coffee is meditative
    .
There are young Totora and Rimu here.

Embarrassment. I’ve been here many times before and not to notice.

Like a skinny teenager only growing in one direction but likely much older than I. A smile. A thought of encouragement to reach the light.

I recall past sentiments about losing good hunting grounds to scrub.

I must have matured as well.

It's nice to see you appreciate the beauty of God's green earth. Sometimes it's the little things that make a hunt special.

We take it for granted sometimes,

Been helping reduce numbers on private land a bit over the last 12 months and it’s so good to get back into the native.

Quite the poet as it turns out. On ya mate!
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Always great when you stop and notice something special. It's around us all the time. But it takes effort sometimes to notice it.

I need to get an electronic guide to refer to in the bush. My memory is like a sieve.
