Ruahine Ranges Mountain Dolphins
I had a day off....shock horror so I went for a wander in search for bambi or the local freshwater dolphins!
First crossing appeared to be a likely spot for the Ruahine Mountain Dolphins.

I knew I wouldn't see any on my way up the ridge.

Quick looksie at the dry farmland on the Eastern side of the Ruahine Ranges.

Marched on looking towards the "Cats Paw"

Then headed down off the ridge where sightings of the Ruahine Dolphins would be better.

Ate my lunch at the Stanfield Hut,well mantained DOC hut and very tidy.Mrs D's uncle was up there the day before me to rebait the rat stations.

Headed back out via the Tamaki Stream searching the bigger holes in the stream for the Ruahine Mountain Dolphins but the low river level prevented any sightings this time.

It was nice to have a few showers fall over me before making it back down to the heat on the lowlands.A couple of mils or more must of fell while I was up there.
