Sheep shagger and Gumboot guru hit the hills.
Brads invited me out for a hunt.Arrived at base camp at 1700hrs where we chucked our gear on the bike and headed off up the farm.
Riding over steep tracks I was hanging on for dear life as the sheep shagger was texting while riding and checking the forum.Mad bugger:ORLY:
We were in stealth mode once we left the bike behind and were walking briskly till eagle eyes spotted a deer on a clearing.

There were more than one but I could only see one at 1000yards away on the top clearing.
Attachment 42433
The wind was blowing up our arses so we closed the gap hoping not to be seen and got too 750yards.
Attachment 42434
Brads was seriously thinking of having a crack as getting closer with the wind up us seemed impossible. Then that bloody sound of a chopper was heard! The bastard flew right over the clearing sending the deer running for cover.

Well that stuffed that mob up for us you bastard!!
Climbing higher into the clouds on the off chance that they re appear and the wind was blowing our scent away from that clearing but visabilty was sweet FA at the new altitude. We dragged our sorry arses further along the ridge when we came across another clearing with two deer on it at 550 yards.

The deer that we were watching that was to provide the better shot disappeared into the bush leaving the remaining one with her bum towards us and she turned her head and briefly looked straight at us,then showed her whole body.

Brads set the 338 Sako up for me to take the shot as it was a bit far for the 7mm08.
I lined her up through the Xhairs and squeezed a shot off. With the recoil and smoke losing visibility briefly and no cheering from Brads I thought for a second that I may have missed but in those brief seconds that seemed eternity the smoke cleared and I witnessed the deer rolling down the hill into the scrub below. Hand shakes all round we were both stoked at my top shot.
Now we had to climb down that bloody steep hill then up the other side.
Attachment 42441
Stopped halfway down under this weird overturned tree.
Attachment 42442
The we had to climb back up and over to the clearing.
Attachment 42443
We found it.
Attachment 42444
Looking back towards the shooting position at the top of that bloody hill.
Attachment 42445
Photo time before we packed her up and our sorry arses out of there.
Attachment 42446Attachment 42447
We had to carry the meat and make our way back to those three hills on the skyline.
Attachment 42448
I started getting the back straps off then let Brads show me how its done.
Attachment 42449Attachment 42450
Bloody big hole in the front end!
The slog was on with those hills getting nearer slowly but surely.
A few more were seen in the fading light. And a lucky escape for a sheep that was sleeping on the track as I'm sure Brads was going to give her some loving with his pants down to his knees :ORLY:But she awoke and got away from Sheep shagger:D

The rain was starting to dampen us as we approached our final slog up those hills that were way in the distant when we were packing out the meat.We had hiked our butts 18km but it was well worth it. Thanks @BRADS
