    Silly Season with the Kids

I almost ran out of time for my annual hunt with my kids at the farm due to a busy period at work but just squeezed it in before Christmas. Silly season and lush grass made the hunting easy work and we then shot a gong with a few rifles to true up some new loads I've done for my 260 and 7mmRM. Looking forward to getting away on holiday and getting some diving under my belt now. Cheers everyone

@stagstalker Bloody good on ya mate!
If you don’t mind me asking, how old’s your kids and how and when did you get them involved?Asking as I have a 3 year old daughter I’d love to expose to hunting, but don’t know how or where to start.

@thatguy I took my kids out from 2yrs old. In a backpack shooting bunnies with suppressed 22. Get them into it young. Got a pic somewhere of him beside a bunny I got and he was holding a pop gun.
Teaches you a lot too when they are young, wobbling with excitement in a child pack certainly makes for fun shooting and you learn to be patient. Loosing a few chances with laughing kids is cool. @stagstalker cool video.

That was a awesome hunt for the kids, I pretty sure they will want to hunt when older, great stuff need more youngsters learning the ropes. Nice pile of fat venison too.

@thatguy Thanks mate! To be honest i’m really lucky to have this spot that I take them on the farm which is really easy going. I’ve taken my two eldest there since they were one year olds in a child carrier backpack. I do the odd little trip into public land with one of them in the backpack but generally if I do that then I try to do it with someone else so if we/they do shoot something then I know they can sort it and I can just do the parenting. There’s actually a lot we can get them involved in if we put in the effort. The biggest thing I will say is it has to be fun, let go of the hunt focus and make sure it’s focussed on the kids being happy and having fun.

    Awesome @stagstalker
I took my boys out from a very young age and it pays dividends later in life.
Unfortunately I see first hand in my job the effects of either parental neglect or the absence of a strong make role model in kids lives and it ain’t pretty. Your kids are fortunate to have a dad like you in their lives.

Sorry for slight hijack but it pays dividends when you get to do this with your kids when they are 20!!!
