    Still quite not spring

Our 7 year old had been driving mum up the wall. School holidays. I took Friday off and we shot away for a couple of nights. Still cold with snow around. It’s just starting to get a green tinge. Another few weeks and I might have to dust off the .222

Nice one. Springs here in our region,. all areas new growth and deer sign on a number of flats and grass clearings.
Saw plenty of sign on weekend, just couldnt find a deer after a 6 hour hike.

Was down Taranaki on weekend and we had go via SH1to miss the road blocks in the South Waikato and the Ruahines Ranges had a good dumping of snow on the tops, don't think it will be Spring there yet, lower down Spring has sprung though.

Spring seems to have sprung here at a local swimming hole (pic doesn't do justice to the carpet of grass and flowers...)

Tough season in the Wairarapa. The high country is still pretty bleak. The deer are starting to poke around on the lower country but some of them are still in winter condition.

50mm OF rain overnight, 22' today, watching the grass grow, will be great after Labour weekend when work returns for others.

Yeah the paddocks at home are doing overtime here. The growth level will be climbing with the altitude

Just moved our small stock numbers to a fresh bit of paddock that went from 50mm to 200mm of grass in 3 weeks. Mate saw 2 yearlings ambling down Clarence valley road yesterday but didn't have a rifle as it was middle of the day.

I have from Wednesday evening until Monday night off but have to do brownie points earning but might try and get out after work Wednesday for a quick evening hunt.

We picked a deer up Friday and it had a bit of fat on it.
