Taking the dog for a walk

Keenfella had been talking for a while about some country he had access to for us to check out and that it would be a good spot for the dog. Being that we are a confident couple of hunters I bought a new freexer on Tuesday and Wednesday saw me knocking off work at 4 to go and get the dog, meet Keenfella and get something for the freezer.
We got up to the property, had a chat to the farmer (who loved my work attire), got changed and jumped on the bike with the dog running alongside to get a bit of a warm up before we got into the hunting.
We parked the bike well back from the intended lookout point and started walking. Within 50m the dog started winding and stopping coming onto a soft point, given that we were so close to where we had parked the bike I figured it must have been a hare that he was indicating so kept walking, as we moved across the wind however the dog got more and more insistant that there was something I should be paying more attention to than I was and kept stopping me. Once we hit the true crosswind he moved to the side of the track, looked down and locked solid. A few minutes later a yearling fed out from the scrub 200m away. Another example that you really need to have faith in your dog. A further point to make would be that I have shot a range of animals including birds, chamoois, goats etc with this dog but hadnt introduced him to deer, I hadnt done the deerskin thing with him either, dogs just love to hunt game and this is pretty good proof of it. No introduction to the target species and he indicated it from 200m. Shooting it confirmed it was the intended species and he tracked and located it once it was down.

Few other points for the video:

Imitation Versapod finally showed that it is shit (you see it break lining up for the shot) I have a genuine one which is much stronger but noticeably heavier

Watching the video there is a part where the muzzle is pointing up and angles towards camera, not ideal, the gun was completely unloaded at that point however.

I tried to be a nice guy and given that I didnt have another top figured carrying the deer with no shirt would give me something to put on over top afterwards to avoid getting blood on the seats of Als car. Once we got back to the bike he told me he had covers and it was an unnecesary exercise (hes good like that)
Was a good evening out, plenty of laughs and good times had. Hope you enjoy the video
