No mate, we made sure we identified and planned what spur looked best to go up from below, before we left the spot I shot from. There was a quad track running through the valley floor right below the deer, so quad to there, then maybe 100 yards or so up spur until we found the bigger clearing to the right, then a short sidel across to the deer. Almost gentleman's hunting, i wouldnt be shooting them that far away unless i knew we could get the bike pretty close and the recovery was reasonable. It all worked out pretty well.
That same morning prior, we passed up another 3 deer between 450 and 550 yards that were in absolute pricks of places where the recovery would have been hellish.
As I'm getting older I'm slowely starting to learn the ole 'Smarter not harder' ;-)
