    Weekend Hunt

This trip was originally planned for 4th Sept 2010 but was rudely canceled by a bloody big quake, a couple of other attempts were postponed due weather, river condx. Anyway finally things lined up & Friday arvo I picked a mate up after work & we were on our way.

Sat morning at 0800dark we were up sipping a coffee & chowing down some breaky, a stiff climb in the dark with stars shining had us sitting at the first likely spot waiting for daylight to appear. It's a magic time of the day & I still get that nervous excitement of what the day ahead will bring.

As dawn broke we started hunting the area, an hour later we spotted a couple of deer out feeding & the stalk was on! We managed to close the distance down too 270yds, then it was time for a bit of gun play & we had 2 on the deck. Job done

Couple of photo's & then seeing as it was early we stashed the meat & decided to continue to the tops & look for a chammy. It was a pretty steep climb but the views were worth it, by mid day it was stinking hot & I was wishing I'd packed a bit more water. No Chammy but we did a bit of recon work for the future.

Boys were pretty knackered by the time we got back to camp & you can't beat a cold beer after a hard day on the hill, with the meat supply topped up it's back to salmon fishing.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

Love the country. Sounds like a great trip.

Must say I'm a bit jealous of your mode of transport.

    Cheers.
