What not to do :)

So we made the call to go for a hunt this weekend as it was time to try and put some more veni in the freezer, got halfway to hunting spot and passed a camper van with four german tourists on the side of the road scratching their heads. Turns out they didn't have the right tools for the job so 15min of jacking up and changing the tyre it was all done. got given 2 beers and $50 cash so was a great start.
Got to Spot X and heading up the hill for maybe 10mins we spotted 2 yearlings way out in the open so lay down and shot them 180 yards. hi fives and photos done it was magic but the good luck had to end somewhere :) 3rd cut of gutting the deer and i managed to slip and cut my bloody finger with a freshly sharpened knife. Seeing the fat and blood squirting out i informed my hunting mate i had cocked up and needed to wrap it up quick.
We don't normally carry a first aid kit (as we won't need that, i say to myself ) but had put one in for this trip for some reason, very glad we did!!!
patched up i carried all the gear back to the truck while mate gutted both deer, i head back up the hill and we got both deer to the truck and headed home seeing 4 more deer driving out,
then to A&E 3 friggn hours in the waiting room 3 stitches later i was in bed at 3am.
All in all a great trip to get some meat, but will be taking a lot more care next time and won't be doing that again.
Also will always carry a first aid kit. People learn from my experience!!! :)

Ouch, but at least you go some meat. Nasty place for a nick though.

A&E is not the speediest place to be at anytime but on a weekend is even slower than a 100 year snail with arthritis as they seem to have a lot of "clients".

When I was there most of the other visitors were there as a result of beer!!

The $50 would have paid for the A&E, Murphy always get ya, good to have the freezer full:yuush:

Well done! I've done a similar thing while gutting a deer. Luckily my 'paranoid' mate had a first aid kit. A lesson learnt 😀

haha could have been the back hay paddock with the amount of grass there, but stuff trying to drive the tractor where we were :)

Ouch! Chainsaw trauma kits are small light and should get you through most knife fights, I know from experience...

I have no idea how it cut, I think I hit it on the base of the knife, which is always the sharpest bit!!

Nice clean cut like that is a sitter for superglueing up

the dish washer inside metal caught my leg over the weekend split me straight to the muscle
two min of glue drying later and a paper towel sheet glued in for a second layer of reinforcing and im back fixing that damn dishwasher

Roll of insulation tape and superglue = first aid kit sorted ya reckon?

Bill did it burn at all as it set? Think I'll stick to the Celox.

pain is just weakness leaving your body.

nah it only hurts if you remove a heap of skin and expose a lot of nerve endings then glue it. like the time I cut most of a finger print off.
even then its only a mild tingle
