When I was much younger I went with a four wheel drive club trip from Chita to Magadan in the summer. In UAZ four wheek drive vans.... we went to the pole of the cold , a village called Oymyakon.it was a small village ,maybe 500 people from memory. The local mosquitoes were deadly and I would have preferred the winter so they didn't fly around as much . Lots of abandoned trucks and cars along the way. I saw why vodka is so popular in Siberia....
