Thread: 2005 - 2015 Hilux aftermarket suspension

Does anyone have experience with the Dobinsons front strut units vs Ironman ?

For better or worse we've aquired a rather tired 2014 4x4 hilux with factory bullbar etc & would like some ground clearance.

Dobinson seems a better price ?
But is it worth the extra for the Ironman ?

Dobinsons will be big improvement on tired old factory spring/shocks in my opinion.

Ran Dobinson springs & Bilstein shocks in my 2015 Hilux. Can recommend.

Either will be a vast improvement, but be aware both options need to be correctly matched to the vehicle loading and both front and rear done at the same time.

Should add that mine was done by a professional spring manufacturer / 4wd enthusiast. He recommended the Dobi springs over anything else & reworked my rear leaves to suit.

I sell both through my shop and install , Dobi is pretty hard to beat for bang for buck

I fitted Outback Armour to my Hilux.
OME designers and engineers left and set up Outback Armour. Really rate their equipment.
Def recommend it.
I mixed up the kits so I had a slightly heavier front end spring set up due to the steel bars I fitted. The rear suspension is the softer so when its not loaded it doesn't bounce around too badly.
Rides very nice on road and performs well offroad.

Ive got EFS 2” lift heavy duty leaf packs in the rear of my 2014, with KYB ‘scorched earth’ shocks. A massive improvement over the old man emu stuff I had in the rear, which failed. The old man emu coils and shocks in the from seem to still be ok, though I have noticed my new tyres rubbing slightly, which it hasn’t done before, so maybe they’re a bit tired.
