2014 Hilux bleeding the Brakes ?

Yes I've tried the search function.

    Ute has ABS & VSC.
Replaced all brake pads/shoes & rear wheel cylinders. Roughly adjusted rear brakes.

    First bleed used oneman kit.
Brakes hard , started motor & pedal went to floor.
Went round a few times & similar results.

Last attempt key on & wife played pump the pedal.
It's better but still not ideal.
    Have kept m/c topped up.

Apart from adjusting the rear brakes properly , any suggestions ?
Or do I need a scan tool ?

    Thanks

Might need to bleed all of them if there is air in the line. Thought it was start furthest away and work way back

    added info

    Started at left rear r/r l/f & r/f.
    Using clear tube into container.
Hose looped up so air doesn't return to bleed screw.
    Each bled until no bubbles.
I had clamped the rear hoses before swapping the wheel cylinders , so lost little fluid.
There's no balance valve for the rear axle on these.
Last couple of bleeds almost nil air in fluid.

Usually takes me a couple of rounds on other vehicles but get a good pedal afterward.

Are the wheel cyclinders identical piston size ?

None of the lines still pinched. If its bled properly amd still not right it could be a master cyclinder issue

Or try pump the pedal a bit im sure you've done that till the pistons adjust to the new pads .

Sure it doesn't have a load sensing valve for the brakes. It would be the last point of bleed

    Vacuum bleed is next option.
One push & pads were on discs. Discs look almost new , drums machined.
W/C in a kit from Partsmaster so should be identical. Same part numbers.
I'll climb under it tomorrow to check for balance valve , but I understood the electronics replaced them as it has two brake fluid circuits to the rear axle from the ABS/VSC unit
Unsure of the age of the master cylinder.
Doesn't look that old. Vehicle has just shy of 400K km.
Replaced brake parts all good quality.

Get the rear shoes adjusted properly first, in my world that's handbrake off with adjuster at handbrake slackened off so there's slack in the cable, back axle on stands, adjust shoes till wheel doesn't turn then back off until it does, same for other side, then readjust handbrake cable 5-7 clicks for fully on. Bleed entire system from Near side rear, off side rear, near side front, off side front. Push around 3-4 fills of master cylinder reservoir on the offside rear brake, this ensure ya got nice new fluid all the way through, once you've bled that brake, open bleed nipple and have someone else depress brake pedal AND HOLD IT DOWN whilst you close bleed nipple, repeat another couple of times. Work your way round the rest of the brakes following same process but only push 1-2 master cylinder reservoirs of new fluid through at each subsequent brake.

I've just gone through this process on my 2008 Hilux as the brake pedal travel had become......"concerning" lol the old brake fluid looked like treacle, using the process above I've got uber sharp brakes now although getting the handbrake working and holding took a couple of goes and a few km's to bed in the new shoes

Looks like Jobs for today To lazy to back off h/b cables which restricted shoe adjustment .
How did you get around the rear spring etc in the access to the adjuster slot ?
    I always loose blood somewhere.

On the '08 you just pop the centre console/tunnel trim off and wind off the cable adjuster at the base of the handbrake, takes 30 seconds.
When I did mine there wasn't much adjustment left, so I backed it right off, adjusted the shoes and then took up the bulk of the cable slack at the adjuster that sits under the off side rear corner of the cab, that way I had all the adjustment to use at the handbrake
As for losing blood, talk to me after you've removed a 4 bank of carbs that've been shoe horned in behind a Japper multi...I ALWAYS lose skin!

Thanks all for the helpful replies .
Seem to have it sorted after readjusting the handbrake & back brakes.
    Passed the recheck.
Now for a wheel alignment to turn off the Slip indicator light.
    There's always something.
